Exhausting Fun

We recently returned from a wedding in Cancun and had a few pictures to document our exhausting fun! For those who haven't seen Zach sporting his new headgear, no need to fear, it's just to smooth out a flat spot. In fact, the doctor said he may only need it for a couple of months, which would be such a relief since the boy sweats profusely in it.

Faith kept referring to this as her baby bird. She really thought it was a baby since she was able to hold it in the cradling position. You gotta love Mexico and their free-from-legal worries society. I think we have an old post from Cabo where Faith is 2 1/2 and riding in a van with nothing but a seat belt on.

Here's a clip from the restaurant where we ate nearly every meal the 3 days we were there. Faith has way of taunting that makes it appear as though she's trying to be helpful.

On the flight back from Cancun, we had a 4 hour lay over in Mexico City. Ryan, who possesses an irrepressable wanderlust, could NOT pass up the opportunity to go into the city. So there we went with a preschooler and an infant (no car seats, of course) in a taxi into the heart of the world's largest city. I have never witnessed such chaos and mayhem on a Sunday. People and cars were crawling out of every nook and cranny and to make things more exciting, they apparently close certain streets on Sunday. By the time we made it to the Zocalo, we knew we were in grave danger of missing our flight. So after a quick tour to see if I could view the notorious cloak emblazoned with the image of the Virgen de Gualdalupe (which apparently you have to be of Hispanic origin and of course, pay to do) we set our sights on getting a taxi. After 10 minutes of fruitless effort, we headed to the nearest Holiday Inn where they assured us they could get one there in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later we were finally loaded up and headed back to the airport. I must say, though the cab driver nearly ran down 5 different people, honked his horn needlessly (and to the point a police officer questioned him), he got us to the airport in record time. Like Ryan says, "You have to maximize the fun". HAH!

Once we returned home, I had to tie up loose ends for Faith's 4th birthday party. The Lord blessed us with a beautiful day, wonderful friends to help celebrate, and one very happy little girl. It was a wonderful day.

Just a few things Faith is into right now:

dresses ONLY (still:)

crafts

playing Millie and Alice from 7 brides for 7 brothers (thank goodness the Star Wars phase is over!)

swimming

ballet

tying people and things up (including her brother) with the tie from her robe. She actually learned to tie by herself from practicing this. I admit, it worries me a bit.

reading chapter books

her new Felicity doll

anything from the great outdoors (we have found everything from crazy worms that feed on oaks to rocks and sticks to leaves and flowers in the house-in containers, thank goodness she loves those too!)

Another collaborated birthday cake effort by her dad and I. Though I fully intended to complete this one on my own, once her gown collasped, I nearly did too and my prince was there to save the day. His superior engineering skills helped put Ariel back together again and I was able to decorate her. She, like our bathroom towels, was only for decoration. Our guests ate strawberry cupcakes since she wouldn't have sliced very nicely:)
Two of my friends at the party have babies very close to Zach's age. Aren't they all precious? Happy Birthday Faith, we love you!
