Christmas Catch Up (and other random events)

Well, we were blessed with a white Christmas this year (and I'm not talking about the 5 minute phenomenon in San Antonio:) No, we had snow like when I was a kid, building not just snow forts, but entire snow residences with fully functional kitchens and garages (remember that Shan?) Being that it was Minnesota, it didn't come without the cold. We would take 10 minutes to bundle everyone up to be outside for the same amount of time. But, hot chocolate never tasted so good.

It's eye-opening to see technology from a youngster's point of view. Whether ski-jumping or bean bag throwing, they truly believed they were doing it on the Wii. While we used the balance board, they would use cutting boards so they could do it "with" us. The last picture above is the only one I have of just the cousins (well, we didn't expect Grace to be in the middle of that on her own:) But, I have to say, it pretty accurately describes the relationship dynamic at this point. Faith tried to exert her seniority while Josiah let her think she was succeeding and Ava let her know she wasn't. And Grace is such a sweet baby, very laid back.

After Minnesota, we flew to Dallas where Faith got to hang out with kids her "imagined" age. All 5 of her second cousins (or is it cousins once removed?) are such great kids. It's fun to see them growing up and how God has gifted them all so differently. We are contemplating doing a family trip rather then presents next year, which will be a great way to bond with Ryan's side of the family in a different setting. Ryan's cousin Heather is putting together a CD which you can check out soon on itunes. We mulled over CD cover options and heard the latest edition of songs from the album. It's neat to see her fulfilling her dream.

On the way home we were able to stop at Glen Rose where they have actual dinosaur tracks cemented. We bought Faith a dinosaur egg that hatches when you put it in water for 2 days and then continues to grow bigger. She wanted to take it out of the water before it reached actual dinosaur proportions:) And lastly, for those Minnesotans reading this blog, this is the time of year when we finally have enough leaves on the ground to rake! And so our annual leaf jumping party commenced soon after we arrived home. Faith has also started a ballet class which I will try to post pictures of soon. It doesn't get much cuter than six 2 year olds wearing pink leotard and tutus! I hope you and your family experience God's blessing in the new year!
